Diagnostic specimens assigned to UN 3373 include Monkey Pox virus samples.
Mainly found in parts of central or west Africa, the likelihood of catching Monkey Pox in non-endemic countries is extremely low. However, due to increased infections, the UK Government has published guidelines on testing for Monkey Pox and transporting suspected Monkey Pox samples. https://lnkd.in/e9eHWHgb
As per these guidelines, suspected cases of Monkey Pox must be transported in Category B (UN3373) packaging. Confirmed cases, however, must be transported in Category A packaging.
