The Dutch Labour Inspectorate has created an online tool, available in English, that can check SDS information, for end users, and send feedback to suppliers.
SDS Check is based on the requirements set by the European REACH directive, and in just 5 minutes, you can have an insight into the quality of the SDS provided by your supplier – and you can ask for a new one, if necessary.
What do you need?
- The SDS
- The label from the substance that the SDS refers to, or a photo thereof
- And if the SDS is not up to standard – your supplier’s email address.
About SDS check
SDS Check provides an indication of the quality of an SDS for the end user – it is meant for companies that buy hazardous substances and/or mixtures from suppliers. With an SDS check, you can ensure that the safety data sheet fulfils the most important requirements from the European REACH and CLP directives, that refer to health and safety at work.
NB: SDS Check has been developed for professional end-users and only checks whether the SDS that you receive from your supplier provides the right information with regard to working safely with hazardous substances or mixtures.
All of the details that you enter into SDS Check remain confidential; they will not be sent to any government bodies.
SDS checks for suppliers
If you are a supplier, producer, importer or mixer who wishes to check that the SDS’s that you provide for your own products fulfil the legal requirements, then use the SDS checklist from CEFIC or ECHA.
Make sure that you know your obligations and how these could affect your business.
