These are designed to protect your packages from being mishandled during transit and to keep your goods upright to prevent them from breaking or falling out.

The label must be used on combination packagings and overpacks that contain liquid dangerous goods when being transported by air, ground, or sea.

Orientation labels are not required on:

  • dangerous goods in inner packagings each containing 120ml or less, with sufficient absorbent material between the inner and outer packagings to completely absorb the liquid contents
  • outer packagings containing pressure receptacles, except cryogenic receptacles
  • outer packagings containing Class 6.2 Infectious Substance in primary receptacles, each containing not more than 50ml
  • class 7 radioactive material
  • outer packagings containing articles which are leak-tight in all orientations (eg alcohol or mercury in thermometers and aerosols)
  • outer packaging containing dangerous goods in hermetically sealed inner packagings, each containing not more than 500ml
